MBCL

INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION MBCL

Sep 1, 2022

What a wonderful adventure we started some 15 years ago, when Frits Koster and I began to develop Mindfulness-Based Compassionate Living (MBCL). On this beautiful path we reached another milestone this year.

We feel thrilled that the boards of two leading Mindfulness Associations, the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA), and the Vereniging Mindfulness Based Trainers Nederland (VMBN), now officially recognise MBCL as a Mindfulness-Based Program (MBP). They unanimously adopted the advice of the Taskforce that examines the accreditation of MBPs other than MBSR and MBCT.

MBCL was one of the MBPs that participated in the pilot phase of the accreditation process and met the internationally accepted criteria for MBPs used by the Taskforce. MBCL is therefore the first recognised 'follow-up' MBP (following a foundational MBP such as MBSR and MBCT) with a 'normal dose' of duration and practice time.

The programme intends to cultivate compassion towards ourselves, each other and the world at large. Because it is a follow-up program, there is room for flexible application in various settings, such as (mental) health, education, human resources, spiritual care, the workplace and management, according to the insights of experienced teachers.

With deep gratitude to all participants, colleagues, and researchers, who contributed over the years to shape the programme into its current form.
